Namaste Family & Friends:

It’s hard to believe, but I am back at the Yak & Yeti in Kathmandu.  It seems like I just left this place.

The flight was good for Allan and I–17 hours from LAX to Bangkok and 4 hours from Bangkok to Kathmandu.  I am feeling pretty jet-lagged, but time will take care of that problem.  We met part of the team last night at Asian Trekking.  More on that later. Today, as Expedition Leader, I have a meeting at the Ministry of Tourism.  It’s pretty much a formalism, but Allan is going to film the meeting for the documentary. This morning, I will be working on programming my electronics so I can send photos and video from the mountain.  All of Allan’s equipment is working good, so we are in great shape.  We’re going to test our Skype capabilities this morning.

Yesterday, I got some great news from Sharon and Asian Trekking.  It looks like the fixed lines are going up early this year on the South side.  The lines may be fixed as early as the first week of May.  This will make it possible for me to summit early on the South and then head over to Tibet for the North side climb.  I am excited to consider this possibility.  I will need to do some serious acclimatization climbs when I arrive at Base Camp so I will be ready for a summit push in early May.

That’s all for now.  I’ll write again soon.

Bill
