We finally heard from Bill late last night! He called his wife Sharon from Lukla and briefly reported that all is well and the trip was great. They were so exhausted after descending to Base Camp that they took a helicopter back to Lukla instead of the very long trek back down. They are headed to Kathmandu soon where Bill will send out a post with details. I had hoped to have his report by now so this post would have more details, but wanted to let everyone know that they are all safe and getting ready to come home.

Bill, I’ve never met you or anyone else on the expedition. But a friend got me hooked, and it’s just been fascinating. Congratulations on the completion of a truly arduous task, and thank you for, at least through modern technology, taking me along on the journey. It’s been great.

Bill, this is one of your Canadian followers…I was on pins and needles for the last couple of days, to the point that I could not post anything..the time delay was, in some ways agonizing, waiting to hear from everyone posting from there You and your climbing team were in my thoughts, ….so … I am glad to hear good news that everyone is safe and in transit, making your way back to the USA …Thanks for sharing your story and your expedition with us for the past couple of weeks…I shall look forward to hearing more on the climb itself and the difficulties you faced, attempting to summit. I have not doubt that your notes will be interesting, to say the least. In the meantime, safe travels back to home and your family!

Phew ! Safety first is always is a winner. A wise choice means there will always be a future to enjoy a climb, wherever it may turn out to be.
