Namche Bazar
September 24, 2017
Dear Family & Friends:
I really love my Fall, 2017 BK Team. What an eclectic, interesting and fun group!
I could not have scripted this trip better. Everything is going as planned, and we are all having a great time. I have a very good feeling about this expedition.
Yesterday, we trekked 10 miles from Lukla to Monjo. Today, we trekked from Monjo to Namche Bazar. We are staying at the Camp de Base lodge. All team members are performing well and feeling good.
The Sherpas have established our Burke-Khang Base Camp and will begin the route finding and line fixing activities tomorrow.
We have made a slight change in the schedule. The original plan was to take a rest day in Namche tomorrow while we complete a helicopter reconnaissance of Burke-Khang. Instead, Noel and Alex will trek to Dole tomorrow and complete the recon the day-after-tomorrow. After the recon, Noel & Alex will stay at Base Camp. Noel will assist the Sherpas with route finding and line fixing and Alex will film all of the activities at Base Camp.
The rest of the team will take a rest day in Namche tomorrow and trek to Dole the day-after-tomorrow. Otherwise, the schedule is unchanged.
I want to give special recognition to the filmmaking team. Jeff & Alex are working really hard and doing a great job documenting and photographing every aspect of this trip. If we can pull this off, I’m confident we will have a blockbuster film.
My next report will be from Dole. I will fill you in on the heli recon and the weather report we just ordered from Mike Fagin.

I have followed all your expeditions with great interest and wish you well this time. But am wondering have you figured out how you are going to overcome the cornices that you found impassable on your last two attempts on Burke-Khang ?

Go Bill! So excited to tackle this next adventure with the same heart and persistence you always have.
Hey there Bill…your friendly Canadian, here…quietly following your escapades again. I wish you all a safe climb and a godspeed trip back home to the USA. I am also very excited to be able to see this film, a story of inspiration, determination, perseverance, dedication and sheer unconditional love for another. Hang on to those thoughts as you conquer your way to the top of Burke-Khang. What I admire about you, is that, while some of us are in a state of ‘being’, YOU BE YOUR BEST. Alana
