Mt. Elbrus
I climbed Mt. Elbrus in an expedition that started on July 30, 2005 and ended on August 3, 2005. We summited on August 2nd. Mt. Elbrus is located in the Caucasus Mountain Range in Russia and is the highest mountain in Europe. This was an international expedition with members from Latvia, Canada, Germany and the United States. The climb began at Base Camp at the Barrel Huts. From Base Camp, it is a straight shot to the summit. Once again, our summit day was plagued with terrible weather. We started in a blinding blizzard, which did not let up until we reached the summit. Do you see a pattern here regarding the weather? After the trip, I had a great time touring Moscow and St. Petersburg.
