Eureka Springs, Arkansas
July 11, 2025
July 8. The weather forecast called for thunderstorms, so I took a rest day in Russellville at the Holiday Inn Express. It rained off and on all day. I used the time to return home excess gear, shop for supplies at Walmart and wash my dirty clothes. With the lighter saddlebag, I have a lot more control over the bike and it operates more efficiently. I enjoyed a fantastic Italian dinner at the Pasta Grille in Russellville. When I returned to the hotel, I met four riders from Atlanta on large Harley touring bikes. They suggested I visit Eureka Springs before I leave Arkansas. Although Eureka Springs was not in my trip plans and was a little out of the way, I decided I had to visit this resort destination.
July 9. I left Russellville at 10am and made my way up the Ozark mountains to Eureka Springs. The road was long and steep with lots of twists and turns, but the forest and countryside were stunningly beautiful. I arrived in Eureka Springs at 3:30pm and checked into the Quality Inn hotel. Eureka Springs (population 2,166) is a tourist destination because of its unique character as a Victorian resort. It was once called the “Little Switzerland of the Ozarks” because of its charm and natural beauty. It is also known as the “Stairstep Town” with its mountainous terrain and the winding, up-and-down paths of its streets and pathways. Legend has it that the natural springs of Eureka Springs have healing power. Eureka Springs is a favorite destination for motorcyclists. The 24-mile Pig Trail has been rated one of the top 10 motorcycle rides in America. The economy of Eureka Springs is 100% based on tourism. I was shocked at the number of hotels, motels and bed-and-breakfasts that are located in one tiny little city.
July 10. Upon reviewing my GoPro footage, I discovered that an audio cable was missing so all of my videos from yesterday lack audio. What a bummer! I had to order another cable from Amazon, which will arrive here tomorrow. This means another rest day. But, this time in a resort town. Today, I enjoyed a dip in the salt water pool. Maybe the salt water, like spring water, will heal my chronic back pain. For dinner, I had a fabulous pizza at Red’s Pizzeria.
I am posting videos on my Facebook page.
My next stop will be in Oklahoma.
God is good!

Bill, you surface! Great to see your updates. Keep enjoying the Arkansas cuisine as you wait for that audio cable. And keep enjoying the Adventure of Life!

Hi Bill:
Glad to hear you were flexible in your plans and wound up taking a very scenic tour. Always fun to be flexible. It will be fun to see if you discover anything beautiful in Oklahoma!
So happy to see your post..as always your adventure becomes mine. I wondered about a few choices that maybe I missed. Why did you select that exact bike over others and assuming you have ridden for many years would you choose the same riding bike again? Can’t wait for your next post.
