Medford, Oregon
July 29, 2025

Dear Family & Friends:

Tomorrow, I fly home from Medford, Oregon. I will store my bike at a storage facility close to the airport. Alan Cook will pick it up in 3 to 4 weeks and deliver it to my home.

July 28. While I was staying at the B&B in Langlois, Josh, Liz’s son,  recommended that I visit Cape Blanco, just a few miles north of Port Orford. I am so happy that I followed his advice. Cape Blanco is located at Oregon’s westernmost tip and has breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. The venue is reached by riding through a canopy of beautiful trees. Cape Blanco is home to a functioning lighthouse that was built in 1870 and is still visible to ships 22 miles away. When I visited Cape Blanco, I was greeted by blustery winds coming at me from all directions. I am told that, during winter storms, the winds can reach over 100 mph, making it extremely dangerous for visitors to even exit their vehicles.

After leaving Cape Blanco, I proceeded south on the Pacific Coast Highway (101). I exited the PCH at Highway 199 so I could enjoy my final treat of the trip-a ride through the spectacularly beautiful redwood forest of the Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. Part of this ride, took me through a sliver of California before I crossed back into Oregon. My final destination for the day, and the trip, was Medford, Oregon, location of the Rogue Valley International Airport.

Check out the videos on my Eight Summits Facebook page.

At this point, after four weeks of cross country travel, all I long for is Home Sweet Home and my Beautiful Family.
