Palm Desert, California
September 7, 2023
Dear Family & Friends:
I am still dealing with significant condominium damage from Tropical Storm Hillary at my condominium complex in Palm Desert, California. I hope to return to the Missouri River this month with time to complete my journey to St. Louis before my first grandchild’s wedding in Palm Springs on October 21. If this is not possible, I will return to the River in late October and complete the journey, no matter the weather conditions. The weather can’t possibly be worse than what I have encountered on Mt. Everest.
I will keep you updated.
I wish the best for all paddlers still on this iconic River and congratulations to those who have already made it to St. Louis.
Bill
Best wishes to you in dealing with the condominium damage. We learned in Florida after Katrina and Wilma that they certainly don’t fix themselves and getting to the issues sooner is better than later. The River will be there waiting whenever you are up for it. Be smart (not a problem for you). Be safe (now there’s the rub).
Best of luck Bill.
River also safer than Cook’s Corner apparently.
Bill, the speed bumps of life are not permanent-just diversions on our journey. It’s plugging away that will win you the day!
Blessings,
Rick
Remember Churchill’s advice, “Never, never, never, never, never, never, never give up,”.
Good luck on making the necessary repairs. We are in St. Louis waiting with no travel plans until November. Stay well which is the important thing.
That’s unreal about your condo damage. I had no idea that this happened.
Good luck on getting it repaired.
Glad to finally make contact with you. My email got all messed up.
Be safe and good luck to you.
Let me know when you will be in St. Louis. My daughter lives there.
Take care. Nothing stops you.
Your old buddy E Culbertson.
